On 11 April 2025, a meeting was held at the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports with the representatives of the “Monuments and Heritage Neretvica” Association from Konjic, Salih Mustafić, President of the Association, and Samir Čolak, a member. The Ministry was represented by Tidža Mekić, Head of the Department for Publishing, Library, Fine Arts, Music and Performing Arts, and Anita Vlašić, Advisor to the Minister.
The meeting attendants discussed the key steps for the preservation of historical monuments in the Neretvica Valley and the promotion of cultural tourism through organisation of the traditional event “Days of Neretvica”, which promoted local culture and natural beauty of the region and was therefore recognised as a significant contribution to the development of the local community.
The Ministry representatives expressed their support for the efforts of the Association and emphasised the importance of a partnership approach in the protection of cultural heritage. Representatives of the Association presented their ideas and plans for this year’s activities, emphasising that in organising the popular “Chestnut Festival” (Kestenijada) in Konjic, they established a partnership with the “Chestnut Festival” (Kestenijada) from Hrvatska Kostajnica.
The meeting was concluded with a joint decision to continue cooperation in order to ensure the sustainable preservation of the historical values of this area.
